The four star Parador de Cuidad Rodrigo is an ivy covered castle with a keep situated on the plain of the River Águeda. In Ciudad Rodrigo there are many attractions to see including the Cathedral, Main Square, and the churches of San Agustin, San Pedro and San Andres de la Orden Tercera. The nearby city of Salamanca also offers museums and monuments with beautiful surrounding countryside.
The Parador de Ciudad Rodrigo has well tended gardens with a beautiful courtyard, The interior of the parador is furnished with Castilian style furniture and has a restaurant with stone arches which specialises in serving food from the Salamanca area. Local dishes include various roast meat dishes, Iberian sausages and hams and”huevos farinato” which is an egg based dish.
